Boccia Challenge - 22nd to 26th February
Boccia (pronounced 'Bot-cha') is a Paralympic sport introduced in 1984. It is a target sport similar to bowls and has its origins in ancient Greece, where players threw large stones at a small target. It is about precision and is a game which involving tactics and skill. It is probably something that the children had not played before so it was a chance to try a new skill.
The Boccia Challenge had three challenge levels which we had lots of fun trying to complete. Have a look at our attempts.
William having a go at the highest level of challenge.
William from Year 3 showing some good skills.
Jacob in Year 6 doing his challenge with help from Mum who retrieved his throwing balls!
Billy having a go (and trying not to break anything at the same time!)
Oliver in year 1 sounding and looking like he was having lots of fun.
Myles in Year 1 having a good time as well as taking it very seriously, wanting the balls as quickly as possible for another atempt.
